Building a Survey in Winnow
Building a survey in Winnow is fast and easy. To access the form, click the Build a Survey button at the top of the navigation.
Select a product from the Product Type menu. Some product selections may require narrowing results further by choosing a sub-product. Winnow limits surveys to a single product type at a time to avoid returning too many results and to make the survey manageable.

Next, select the Loan Phase or Subject Matter that applies to your product type and then choose one or more Jurisdictions. Winnow covers all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and federal regulations. You can build a survey for a few jurisdictions or all at once. We recommend limiting the scope of your surveys to make them easier to use.
Next, you may add optional fields like Entity Type or Applicable Licenses. These will further refine your results based on the type of institution you are (E.g., Non-Bank / Non-Credit Union) and the licenses you hold (E.g., CA—Escrow Law License).
Some product types have more optional criteria than others. These values are used less frequently and are found by clicking the Show Additional Criteria button.
Finally, you need to add some Topics. Topics are the specific areas of law that apply to state and federal regulations. Some examples are Adverse Action, UDAP, and various types of fees.
You can break topics down into smaller categories to pinpoint the specific requirements that apply. For example, you can choose the Adverse Action topic and then select the checkbox for Disclosures to build a survey that only returns requirements with disclosures that apply to adverse action in your desired jurisdiction
When building a survey, your selections are added to the Survey Criteria sidebar. This area shows a quick overview of all the criteria that make up your survey and any Default Criteria that your company has applied.
Once everything looks good, click Build Survey, and Winnow will generate your custom-tailored results in seconds.
